who i am

Originally from Mexico City, I moved to Vancouver, BC over 20 years ago. Although I did not come from a musical family directly, I was fortunate enough to have a piano nearby when I was young. My interest in music quickly grew, and I started learning on my own. My mother also had me taking music lessons from an early age.

When we moved to Tampico, I soon discovered electronic keyboards but did not have one until I was around 14. I used a mixer with two turntables to mix vinyl and played the keyboard on top of the records. At 18, I joined a rock band as a keyboardist. Two of the band members and I later formed another band in Mexico City. We recorded demos in different creative ways until we finally went to a proper studio to record a demo. I was fascinated with the recording process and the results.

In university, I started utilizing Audio Recording software and a little computer microphone to craft radio commercials for projects. I found Pro Tools in the radio station at the university and enjoyed working with the recording console and being in the studio. I focused on learning about film and was attracted to the audio side of it, learning a lot about sound design and film scoring.

Later, I attended Audio Engineering and Production school where I improved my knowledge and experience and broke some bad habits. I had the opportunity to be part of some great projects, some of which were under one of my favorite producers. This allowed me to expand my circle of colleagues, collaborators, teachers, and mentors as well as clients and friends.

I currently operate a modest and intimate recording studio. I offer production and engineering services, and my studio can record a modest variety of instruments and voices, and anything else that the imagination allows. I use the most appropriate microphone and preamp combinations to serve the purpose of each recording. I mix using a selection of high-quality analog gear and digital converters. Different preamps, EQs, compressors, and effects can be routed through a mixer and accessed easily through a patchbay.

I work on a variety of musical styles, including jazz, funk, rock, acoustic, and more. I’ve worked on everything from singer-songwriter demos to singles, EPs, and full-length albums. My goal is to help artists craft their music and achieve their vision by adding that extra spice and capturing it in the best possible way, and then mixing it and delivering what they are expecting, and even more.

I would love to work with artists to help them achieve their goals and produce music that is meaningful and memorable.
